Grafobal introduces a 9-color printing machine
GRAFOBAL, joint stock company, Skalica has introduced a 9-color printing machine, the first of its kind, into full operation. The new offset printing machine significantly increases the productivity and quality of the printing process as well as the comfort of the operator. Its advantages include the ability to print multi-colored packages with superior quality the fastest achieved so far - and with a single pass of the machine. The machine also has a unique range of sophisticated control systems. This makes its operation and adjustment simple and intuitive and the machine is rightly described as the most intelligent of its kind.
The new offset printing machine (KBA Rapida 106 – 9 + LTTL SPC ALV3) is about as large as three, two-floor buses in a row (length / height / width: approximately 28.0 / 3.7 / 4.0 meters). It can reasonably be regarded as the purchase of the decade, and not just in Skalica. It is the first ever 9-color machine of the Grafobal Group in its five European packaging plants. Its configuration is unique not only in Slovakia but also, for example, in the Czech Republic. The machine is equipped with two varnishing towers. It prints conventional colors, while one varnishing tower varnishes with dispersion varnish and the other with UV varnish. The maximum speed is up to five sheets per second, which is 18 thousand sheets per hour, while the maximum size of the printed paper is 750 x 1060 mm. From the start of the trial operation, the machine has already printed more than seven million sheets.
The operation and setting of the machine is simple and intuitive. The interconnected systems in the various stages of printing check the correctness of data and automatically indicate or correct inaccuracies occurring during printing. A unique contribution to the quality and accuracy of printing is, among other things, the specific operation of each printing unit and the possibility of correcting the expansion of material during printing within a range of ± 0.1 mm on each set. Tests have shown that the above systems reduce the number of sheets necessary for the setting and start-up of the machine and, indeed, throughout the whole printing process. Meanwhile, the whole course of the order is monitored and the record is available for retrospective evaluation. A new feature is also the ecological system "VariDryBlue" with heat recovery during the final drying, which allows up to 50 percent energy savings in the operation.
