The exceptional Benka adds an award for Grafobal
The calendar, consisting of fourteen reproductions of works by Martin Benka (from the years 1911-1944), from a unique private collection won the award "Golden Seal 2014" in its category within the scope of the 21th anniversary of the identically named competition of the Slovak Printing Industry Association.
In the current year of the competition, a total of 56 exclusive Slovak printing products intended for the domestic market as well as abroad were selected. The award-winning "Representational Calendar of Martin Benka 2014" is unique not only for its content. At first glance, the excellent quality of the production and the fidelity of the reproductions to the paintings of this giant of art and founder of Slovak modernism stands out. The material used along with the sensitive and precise processing of the graphic reproduction contributes significantly to this as does the flawless printing design, including the use of hybrid UV varnish. On account of all this, the Martin Benka Calendar added to the gallery of awards of Grafobal Skalica, which prepared it and was awarded yet another Golden seal. The foreword to the calendar was written by PhDr. Ján Ábelovský CSc., an art historian working at the auction company SOGA and the Slovak National Gallery. The author of the reproduction of the photos is the Skalica native Eduard Timko, whose studio also created the design of the calendar.
